Constance Alexander won a poetry contest in fourth grade and has been writing ever since. With extensive publication, production, and broadcasting credits, she is a tireless promoter of the arts, literacy, women’s issues, and social justice. Taking the lead in creative, community, and civic journalism projects, she is committed to issues related to aging, care giving, gender equality, and sensible public policy for rural communities. A tireless volunteer and board member, her active participation ensures that voices from western Kentucky are heard in statewide and national initiatives. In 2018, she was elected president of the Kentucky Historical Society Governing Board.

In 2014, Constance was the recipient of a Governor’s Award in the Arts for her work in media. Currently, she is working on a poetry project related to women’s roles in care giving from birth to death. The chapbook,
From Cradle to Grace, will be published in 2018 by Finishingline Press. Her readers’ theatre piece, The Way Home, is also slated for publication this year.
